Connecting Memory 2.0
The Connecting Memory app taps into arichcollection of digital stories about the iconic placesandfascinating people of Geelong and the BellarinePeninsula,Victoria,Australia. Local voices tell local storiesthrough film, spokenword, song, images and text.Stories are clustered around the footprint of theM~MContemporary Songline, a path which extends from the YouYangsRegional Park mountain range in the north to beautifulBarwonHeads, at the mouth of the Barwon River in the south, viatheBellarine and Queenscliff.The app is a useful companion to M~M: Geelong's 24-hourExtremeArts Walk - an 80km journey in 12 stages that tracestheContemporary Songline. The M~M(pronounced “M to M”) walkoccursbiennially in May and is open to all.Travellers on this route can unearth content by traversingtheland and Walking Circles based on ancient labyrinth designstounlock stories as they pass through grasslands,industrialnightscapes, the city centre, rural landscapes andbeaches acrossthe twelve wards of our municipality: Austin,Buckley, Beangala,Brownbill, Kardinia, Corio, Coryule, Deakin,Kildare, Windermere,Cowie, Greater Geelong and Cheetham, as well ashistoric Borough ofQueenscliffe.Highlights of the route include Serendip wildlife sanctuary,BobMcGovern Path, Hovells Creek, Limeburners Lagoon, North GeelongandNorth Shore, Corio Bay, Western Bay walk, GeelongWaterfront,Steampacket Gardens, Bellarine Rail Trail, Swan Bay,PointLonsdale, Ocean Grove Beach, and Barwon Heads.Connect and reflect as you take time to walk this land.Connecting Memory and M~M acknowledge WadawurrungTraditionalOwners of this land and all Aboriginal and TorresIslander Peoplewho are part of the Greater Geelong communitytoday.
